This loveable little boy is ready to find his forever home. Let's learn more about this week's pet of the week, Morton!

The Warrick Humane Society is an established no-kill shelter in Newburgh, Indiana. The shelter offers a safe place for animals to stay until they are adopted. Since the Warrick Humane Society does not receive any government funding, it relies on donations, sponsorships, and fundraisers to operate the shelter. They also have the Home Away Pet Spa, a grooming and boarding facility for the community, where all proceeds help the animals in the shelter.
The Warrick Humane Society has so many great cats and dogs in their care that need a loving forever home. So, there is an excellent likelihood that the WHS will have a pet that fits your lifestyle! That's why we are excited for this new partnership with WHS to feature a pet of the week every Thursday! Let's meet this week's Pet of the Week

I love a dog with a classy human name. Especially when they're as adorable and sweet as Morton. He is our Warrick Humane Society Pet of the Week. He's looking for his forever home, and it's up to us as a community to help him find it! Here's what the Warrick Humane Society had to say about our little friend, Morton:

Morton is a 1-year-old Husky mix who is ready to find his forever home.

Morton originally came to us as a stray, so we don’t know much about his past, but since arriving at the shelter, he has quickly shown us what a sweet and lovable dog he is. While he can be a little timid and shy when first meeting new people or experiencing new environments, underneath that cautious exterior is a very affectionate and gentle boy who just wants connection and reassurance.

When Morton first arrived, he handled intake wonderfully despite clearly being confused and unsure about everything happening around him. He stayed calm, cooperative, and sweet through it all, which says a lot about his temperament.

As he’s continued settling in, Morton’s playful and energetic personality has started to shine through more and more. Volunteers who have spent time with him say he walks well on a leash and stays very focused while out on walks. He does get excited and occasionally hops around with enthusiasm when stopping during walks, but he is eager to engage and seems like a dog who would learn quickly with continued guidance and consistency.

Morton is the kind of dog who just needs someone willing to give him patience, love, and a little confidence as he continues coming out of his shell. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality really begins to shine. He also does great with other dogs!

He is up to date on all vaccines, deworming, and prevention, is microchipped, and neutered. He is ready to go home!

If you’re interested in adopting Morton, please fill out an adoption application on our website at warrickhumanesociety.org/adoption. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. You’re also welcome to come meet him. We’re open Wed–Thu 12–7 and Fri–Sun 12–4.

If you are thinking about adding a new furry family member, Morton is waiting. Don't wait, you can meet him at the WHS today!
