Warrick Humane Society Pet of the Week: Candie

Candie girl is ready to find her furever home! This adorable girl is our pet of the week, and we need to help her find the perfect family!

The Warrick Humane Society is an established no-kill shelter in Newburgh, Indiana. The shelter offers a safe place for animals to stay until they are adopted. Since the Warrick Humane Society does not receive any government funding, it relies on donations, sponsorships, and fundraisers to operate the shelter. They also have the Home Away Pet Spa, a grooming and boarding facility for the community, where all proceeds help the animals in the shelter.

The Warrick Humane Society has so many great cats and dogs in their care that need a loving forever home. So, there is an excellent likelihood that the WHS will have a pet that fits your lifestyle! Meet our Piece of Cake Pet of the Week, Candie!

I can't help but sing "I want candy" when I see this little girl's name. Candie is our Warrick Humane Society Pet of the Week. Here's what the Warrick Humane Society had to say about her:

Candie is an 8-year-old Doberman Pinscher who is looking for her forever home.
Candie is one of those dogs who would be perfectly happy spending her days right by your side. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and cuddly, and once she decides you're her person, she would very much like to stay within three inches of you at all times! Her previous home described her as super lovable and clingy, and we're pretty sure Candie would happily make professional cuddler her full-time job.
But Candie isn't just a snuggle bug. She's a fantastic all-around companion who already has a lot of the qualities families are looking for in a dog. She walks well on a leash, knows how to sit, and is both house trained and crate trained. She has a friendly, happy personality and absolutely loves spending time with her people.
Candie also previously lived with another dog, so she may be able to share a home with a canine companion. As always, we recommend that any other dogs in the home come in for a meet and greet to make sure everyone is a good fit.
Candie does need a home without cats. She is good with kids, but she has been known to help herself to food from little hands, and she isn't a fan of having her favorite toys taken from her sometimes, so a home without very young children may be the best fit for her.
Candie was surrendered to another shelter, and unfortunately, we don't know much about the circumstances that brought her there. What we do know is that this sweet senior girl is ready for a fresh start, and she has SO much love left to give.
We're also incredibly excited that our friends at Precision Wildlife Pros are sponsoring Candie as part of the lead-up to Rocky's Community Roundup on Oct. 2nd! Their goal is to help shine a spotlight on deserving WHS dogs and, hopefully, get them adopted before the event ends.
And that is exactly what we would love to see for Candie. While we'd be happy to have people meet her at Rocky's Community Roundup, we'd be even happier to say, "Candie won't be there. She got adopted!"
Candie is spayed and ready to go home!
If you're interested in adopting Candie, please fill out an adoption application on our website at warrickhumanesociety.org/adoption. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. You're also welcome to come meet her. We're open Wednesday and Thursday from 12–7 and Friday through Sunday from 12–4.
