For $50, a VHS volunteer “elf” will deliver adopted pets to their new homes on either Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

The Vanderburgh Humane Society is in the Christmas spirit! For years VHS has been asked to make holiday deliveries of adopted pets, and this year they're finally making it happen.

The promotion applies to dogs, cats, and rabbits adopted December 18-22.

Adoption hours are Tuesday – Saturday, noon from 6:00 p.m. The shelter will be closed to the public on Thursday, December 20.

The last chance to adopt any pet before Christmas will be Saturday, December 22.

Time blocks for delivery are 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Christmas Day, or 10:00 a.m. – noon on Christmas Day. This includes the Evansville and Newburgh area.

Please consider adopting a sweet animal so they can have a home for the holidays. It's literally heartbreaking to think of an animal spending Christmas in a shelter.

Those interested in Christmas delivery can contact VHS at events@vhslifesaver.org, or call (812) 426-2563 extension 218. You can also ask an Adoption Counselor in person at the shelter during business hours.

Deliveries will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. The cost is $50 for delivery, plus the animal's adoption fee.

I'd like to clarify that there is NO better gift on Christmas morning than a cuddly puppy or kitten.
