Get ready to be a Toys 'R' Us Kid again. After closing all of its stores last year, Toys 'R' Us has announced a comeback.

Tru Kids Inc. CEO Richard Barry, who used to be an executive at Toys 'R' Us, plans to open six stores in the U.S. by the end of the year. A new online store is also expected to arrive before the year is up.

These new Toys 'R' Us stores will be roughly 10,000 square feet, which would be about a third of the size of the old ones. However, these stores will have a lot more to offer for kids.According to Bloomberg, these stores will have more "experiences" for kids, such as play areas.

A Toys 'R' Us comeback has been in the works since February  of 2019. The company will face a few challenges on its comeback from retailers like Target and Walmart, who have stepped up their toy game since Toys 'R' Us closed. Of course, Amazon will be another huge threat. Remember those yearly toy catalogs that Toys 'R' Us used to put out before Christmas? Amazon created its own toy catalog last year to fill the void.

Of course, how and when these new Toys 'R' Us stores will arrive has yet to be announced. Once can only assume that since they will start out with only six stores, that none of those locations will be in the Evansville area. They are more likely to be rolled out in larger markets. However, that doesn't mean that if this comeback goes well, Evansville might get a new Toys 'R' Us store down the road.
