Five Indiana Cities are Among the ‘Dirtiest in America’ List for 2024
Five Indiana cities found themselves among the dirtiest cities in the United States. Can you guess which ones made the list?
Indiana towns have been a hot topic lately. When it comes to Indiana, we have no shortage of small towns with a few big cities scattered in there too. Recently we have covered many of these towns in articles such as the worst small towns in Indiana, an Indiana small town that makes you feel like you are in a Hallmark movie, the best must-visit small town in Indiana, the best small town in Indiana, HGTV naming this Indiana town as the most charming in the state, and the most expensive place to live in Indiana.
To keep up with that theme, I saw a recent study the other day about the dirtiest cities in the United States. The list features the top 300 dirtiest cities in the country and out of all the cities, five of those cities are found in Indiana. Chances are, you might be able to guess a few of them.
Indiana Cities Named Among the 'Dirtiest Cities' in the US
Before I reveal Indiana's dirtiest cities, here's what LawnStarter had to say about compiling the data to discover the dirtiest cities across the country:
This year, we expanded the scope of our study to encompass over 300 of the biggest U.S. cities based on 4 categories. More specifically, we considered air pollution, water quality, waste management, and resident dissatisfaction levels in each city, among 21 total metrics.
Given all of that information, the first Indiana city that came to mind wasn't the one that was listed in this study. I don't want to say which city I thought it would be because I'd hate to offend anyone who lives there. However, I'm sure the majority of people reading this might have thought about the same city.
In any event, the dirtiest cities in Indiana, according to LawnStarter includes the following five cities:
Fort Wayne
Coming in at 111 on the list is Fort Wayne. The northern Indiana city received an overall score of 36.16, a pollution rank of 164, a living conditions rank of 270, an infrastructure rank of 102, and a resident dissatisfaction rate of 77.
