We are blessed to have some really nice outdoor spaces around Evansville, and the Department of Parks and Recreation have announced a new series of events that will give you a chance to spend time at some parks that you may have never visited before, and to give kids an opportunity to have some fun after school.

Park-N-Rec is a mobile recreation program that will visit different neighborhood parks around the city on the first and third Friday of each month, now through October. A special preview party/kick-off will be held this Friday, July 27th from 3pm-5pm at Wesselman Park.

I will be at the kick-off event, broadcasting live on MY105.3. I'll have all kinds of freebies if you want to stop by and see me. Maybe I can just toss you some swag, since we will need to maintain a safe social distance. Ha!

The Parks Department Assistant Sport Director, McKenzie May says, “Park-N-Rec provides a variety of activities for families and children between the ages of 5 and 14 years to participate in. We will also have giveaways for children to win.”

Each Park-N-Rec event will include activities such as: yard games, dancing, arts and crafts, sport games, and much more.

Dates and locations for other Park-N-Rec days are:

  • July 24 - Wesselman Park
  • August 7- Bellemeade Park
  • August 21- Garvin Park
  • September 4- Bayard Park
  • September 18- Howell Park
  • October 2- Lorraine Park
  • October 16- Vann Park
  • October 30- CK Newsome Center Lawn
