Honor Flight of Southern Indiana Welcomes Veterans to Freedom Run

Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is at it again. Spend your Fourth of July with other veterans, other veterans who have been on an Honor Flight trip, and anyone willing to spend their holiday walking for freedom! Honor Flight will be hosting the first Freedom Run on July 4th. The event will take place inside the stadium at Bosse Field, and the opening ceremonies begin at 8 am. Support a mission that gives back, celebrate Independence Day, and honor our veterans by participating in this excellent fundraiser for Honor Flight. Registration is required for the event, and prices vary depending on veteran standing and other contributing factors. Need a wheelchair? While the event is a walk, veterans are always welcome to HFSI events, and are more than welcome to attend! HFSI will work with those in need of wheelchairs to ensure they are provided accordingly. For registration information and to get signed up, please check out the Honor Flight website.

What is Honor Flight of Southern Indiana?

Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that came together to honor America's senior veterans. They wanted to honor these veterans for their sacrifices by providing them with a free trip to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials created in their names and the names of their fallen soldiers. From the HFSI website:

"Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is the 133rd Honor Flight Network hub.  Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s Veterans for all their sacrifices.  We serve the Indiana counties of Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick. We fly Veterans to Washington DC to visit memorials built to honor their service to the nation. Top priority is given to our oldest Veterans, along with those Veterans who may be a medical priority.  Any Veteran who has served this great country is eligible for their Honor Flight.  A Veteran DOES NOT have to serve during conflict or overseas to qualify for his or her Honor Flight."
