EVSC Encourages Parents to Plan Ahead for Coronavirus Spread

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Superintendent David Smith made an official statement regarding the school system's plan to handle a potential Coronavirus outbreak. 

Smith reiterated that while there are no current cases out the virus detected in Vanderburgh County, a student in Avon County did test positive over the weekend. As a result, Avon County schools will be closed for two weeks. Smith said that it is important to be prepared in case Vanderburgh schools find themselves in a similar situation.

In the note, Smith encourages parents to make plans now in preparation of a potential closing. He said unlike weather-related closings, illness closures can last one or two weeks and come with very little notice.

The EVSC will inform parents via phone call/text and social media on any changes or outbreaks. They have also added on COVID-19 to their website.
