As if the current pandemic that we are in isn't scary enough, how about a movie that takes it even further with a virus called "COVID-23"?

"Songbird" is a new movie produced by Michael Bay. Think coronavirus meets "The Purge". This film takes place two years in the future, where COVID-19 has mutated to become COVID-23 which attacks the brain. This virus makes the current pandemic look like Disney World, people. You scan your face via your phone daily to confirm you are not infected, if your scan does detect an anomaly, the government shows up to your house to take you away. If you leave your house while infected, you can be shot on site. Infected Americans are forced into quarantine camps...scary stuff, right?!

After watching the trailer, it really had me thinking about the current pandemic. What if it did mutate and get worse? Would this be our future? I certainly hope not because it looks terrifying! I think that's the "appeal" of this movie. It will make you question things like that especially in the current state of the world. It's a movie that I think will have a lot of people talking.

"Songbird" stars  KJ Apa, Jenna Ortega, Sofia Carson, Demi Moore, Bradley Whitford, and Craig Robinsion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was actually one of the first films to shoot in Los Angeles after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. So a pandemic movie made in the middle of a pandemic.

No official release date has been announced yet. In the meantime, check out the first trailer for "Songbird" below:
