Meet Blake: The Birthday Boy on Stage with Thomas Rhett
Local Birthday Boy's First Concert Experience
Blake Yochum is one entertaining kiddo; at least that's what I thought when he walked up to the WKDQ table outside the Ford Center before the Thomas Rhett concert last week. We were giving away Parker McCollum tickets, and Blake really wanted to sign up, but he wasn't old enough. He asked if I could make an exception since it was his birthday and tonight was his first concert. I wished him a happy birthday, let him sign his sweet mother, Kasey, up for the tickets, and laughed at him when he said he was going to get on stage with Thomas Rhett. I wasn't the only person who laughed at Blake that night, as he told anyone who would listen that he was going to get on stage with Thomas. Imagine my surprise when I woke up to find my social media going crazy over some lucky boy who got to sing with Thomas Rhett. It was my new buddy Blake.
How Blake Got On Stage with Thomas Rhett
Blake's parents, John and Kasey Yochum, decided that for Blake's birthday, they would give him the special treatment. Kasey entered to win meet-and-greets through Thomas Rhett's fan club and found out they won two days before the concert. A 6th grader at Clark Middle School in Vincennes, Blake's day started awesome when he got to leave school early to attend the meet-and-greet. During the meet-and-greet, Blake told Rhett that he wanted to get on stage for his birthday. Surprised, Rhett asked him what he wanted to do on stage. Without missing a beat, Blake provided the most Thomas Rhett answer ever, saying, "I just want to dance and vibe". I was able to chat with Blake and his mother, Kasey, about the unforgettable experience. Check out the full interview below to find out how Blake pulled it off!
