I Skipped Parker McCollum to Fulfill a Lifelong Dream
Why I Skipped the Parker McCollum Concert
My husband is not the biggest fan of country music, but I've been breaking him down. He's willing to let me try to bring him to the country side of life, but I'm not exactly batting 1000. I love all kinds of music, so when he told me his favorite artist was Nelly, it wasn't hard for me to enjoy "his kind of music." I too love Nelly. Since we started dating, we have been trying to catch a Nelly concert, and between a Pandemic, Mother Nature, and life, it still hadn't happened. Until I skipped the Parker McCollum concert last weekend to go on a hot date with my Nelly-loving husband. You guessed it, our hot date was to see Nelly at Beaver Dam Amphitheater.

Highly Recommend Beaver Dam Amphitheater
I'm half spoiled and half bougie, but I will just about only watch a concert outdoors anymore. There are few things I enjoy more than a good amphitheater that gets the sound right. Beaver Dam Amphitheater nailed it, and not just the sound. They nailed everything in my book. Parking, drink and food options, table service, open lawn area, designated everything area, and the people were awesome. Not only was the sound impeccable, but the staging and seating were different and something I felt made the venue stand out. With our seats, we had access to The Pit area and the seated table area. Table signs on each table allow you to scan a QR code and get food and beverages delivered to your table. Typically, I would not be this lazy, but the way these folks hustled, this was the better option for everyone. I could go on and on about how amazing this place is, but I recommend you find out for yourself and catch a show before the season ends.

Nelly and Twista Haven't Missed a Beat
Nelly was on the soundtrack to a lot of my generation's high school and college soundtracks, especially for a lot of the athletes. What many might not know is that Nelly was almost a professional baseball player before his music career took off. My husband informs me he had tryouts with the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates at one point. While nothing may have come of it on the field, it may very well have been the inspiration behind some of his hits, like "Batter Up" and "#1". I wasn't expecting the sound to be great, but any expectations I had for anything were blown away. Nelly did the majority of his country crossover songs, and it surprised me how well they were presented live. I danced like I haven't danced since high school and college, just with the sweat of hot flashes and hormones these days. The soreness in my arms is worth every fist pump made, and the scratch in my voice is worth every lyric yelled. But the overall best part of the night? Dancing with my husband and screaming every lyric to the songs we love. This is what music is all about, folks.
