Is it just me, or does it seem like we're seeing more and more food recalls for a variety of different reasons? In this particular recall, over 62,000 pounds of raw beef are affected (62,112 to be exact) due the possible contamination of a particular strain of E. coli bacteria.

The United States Department of Agriculture issued the recall late Wednesday afternoon saying the discovery came during "during traceback (sic) activities in response to random sample testing by FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service)."

The long list of products affected were shipped nationwide to various outlets "for further distribution and processing" which means there is a possibility it made its way to stores here in the Tri-State, and therefore into your refrigerator or freezer.

All products impacted are marked with establishment number of  “EST. 788” on the USDA mark of inspection. You can see both the list of products and their labels through the USDA website.

Of course if you find that you do have one of the listed products, do not eat it! Either throw it out or return it to the store where you bought it for an exchange.
