McDonald’s New Meal Deal Is Apparently Making a Ton of Money
In June 2024, McDonald's introduced a $5 Meal Deal in an attempt to keep customers interested in the brand amid inflation. Several months later, it seems that plan is working perfectly.
Prices everywhere have skyrocketed over the last few years, and the fast-food business has certainly taken a hit because of it. McDonald's new $5 Meal Deal was announced last year in an attempt to bring wallet-tightening customers back to the golden arches. Now, in early 2025, the company is reporting a positive shift for its bottom line, including even more business. Because of this, it looks like the Meal Deal isn’t going anywhere.
McDonald's Extends $5 Meal Deal Through 2025
The fast-food giant has since extended its $5 offering and even added a buy one, get one for $1 deal. This latest move comes in response to trends showing that the $5 Meal Deal is actually leading customers to place bigger orders. According to Investopedia, diners showing up to take advantage of the value menu actually end up spending double-digit dollars. McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski says this is exactly what the chain hoped for when launching the new deal last year. Hook, line, and sinker.

McDonald's Profits Show Customers Are Lovin' the $5 Meal Deal
McDonald's announced this week that it managed global same-store sales growth in the most recent quarter, which actually surprised Wall Street analysts who had broadly expected a decline. Investopedia reports that the company’s stock was recently up about 5%, bringing it to a nearly 7% rise over the past 12 months.
I had previously posed the question of whether a $5 Meal Deal would save McDonald's from losing more customers, and it looks like it has. In fact, the whole ordeal seems to be a win-win for both customers and the company. As a longtime value menu fan, it's definitely something I can get behind. Still, I wouldn’t mind those 2016 prices right about now.
