Historic Newburgh Announces Ghost Walks and Halloween Illuminations to Return for 2024
It's almost time for Halloween, and Historic Newburgh is bringing back some popular traditions.
Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks
I grew up in Newburgh, and taking the Newburgh Ghost Walk every year was a tradition in my family. Walking around historic Newburgh at night when there's a chill in the air, and hearing some of the most infamous ghost stories from the area is just such a fun time. My favorite way to enjoy the Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks is with a mug of warm cider with a cinnamon stick.
If you've never been to the Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks it's always a fun time. They have actors dressed up around the town of Newburgh who portray real past residents of Newburgh and tell their stories. Although some of these stories, make you wonder, are some of these residents still lingering around Newburgh?
This year the Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks will be back from October 18th through 20th. Tickets for the Ghost Walks go on sale on September 1st. Ghost walks are a classic, but that's not all that Historic Newburgh has in store for October!
Ghostly Hayrides
The Historic Newburgh Ghostly Hayrides will also be returning in October. The Ghostly Hayrides will take place the weekend of October 11th through 13th.
Bring the family for an evening of intrigue and education. Hear the astonishing tales of events that occurred near Newburgh's waterfront many years ago. On this tour, attendees will hear ghost stories from Newburgh's early settler days, the Civil War era, and even ghostly events that occurred during the 1900's. Listen to some of Newburgh's most mysterious tales, including the tales of the Steamboat Missouri and the Newburgh Tobacco Company's "Homespun Twist". This is a great tour for any history enthusiast!
Halloween Illuminations
Not to be forgotten, another popular event that Historic Newburgh is bringing back this year is the Halloween Illuminations.
During Halloween Illuminations downtown Newburgh will be aglow with all kinds of lights.
A self-guided, experience with nightly illumination of the woods along the red bridge area of the Rivertown Trail. Family-friendly ghosts, carved pumpkins and lights illuminate the trail along the way each night. Set your own pace while walking along the Rivertown Trail from the Gene Aurand Trailhead to the Ohio River and back.
Halloween Illuminations will be open nightly October 10-13 and 17-20 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
October is always a fun month full of all kinds of spooky events, be sure to follow Historic Newburgh for all of Newburgh's Halloween events.
