Forbes Gives Perfect 5-Star Ratings to Just Seven Indiana Hospitals

Only seven hospitals in Indiana received a perfect score according to new ratings shared by Forbes.

If there's one thing that we all can agree on, it's that nobody wants to be sick in the Hoosier State. It affects too many things at one time; you have to worry about work, who's going to take care of the kids, and several other factors that falling ill will affect your day-to-day life.  It's even worse when one has to go to the hospital if the symptoms are severe enough. That's a whole other level of concern because then you'll instantly be thinking about how much it will cost you to be in the hospital. Luckily, we have some really great hospitals here in Indiana. As someone who is extremely accident-prone, I know a good hospital when I see one.

So, when it comes to Indiana hospitals, which ones should you turn to first? That's where Forbes comes in. The publication just released its 2026 list of the best hospitals in America. Here's how Forbes did it:

To produce the Forbes Top Hospitals rating system, we enlisted healthcare measurement experts, including an advisory panel—comprised of clinicians, scientists, health policy researchers, and patient advocates—and partnered with Inovalon, a healthcare data and analytics firm, to calculate the ratings. The foundation of our methodology is validated and vetted data extracted from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog (PDC). From this dataset, we identified healthcare quality measures that assess patient outcomes, hospital best practices, value, and patient experience. These measures were chosen specifically because they have been developed and regularly tested by leaders in the healthcare community to meet rigorous national standards.

As you may know, if you remember being in school, getting a perfect score isn't an easy task. Out of all of the Indiana hospitals that were included in the 2026 list of the best hospitals in America, only seven of them received five stars - a perfect score.

Which Indiana Hospitals Have Perfect 5-Star Ratings?

According to Forbes, these seven hospitals received 5-star ratings based on four primary categories to rank hospitals, including value, patient experience, best practices, and outcomes.

Ascension St. Vincent Fishers Hospital- Fishers, Indiana

Elkhart General Hospital- Elkhart, Indiana

Franciscan Health Crawfordsville- Crawfordsville, Indiana

Hendricks Regional Health- Danville, Indiana

MHP Major Hospital- Shelbyville, Indiana

Schneck Medical Center- Seymour, Indiana

Witham Health Services- Lebanon, Indiana
