Two Kentucky Hospitals Named Among America’s 100 Best Hospitals

Everyone has their own opinion on hospitals. This one is good for this reason, that one is bad for that reason. However, one thing we all can agree on is that when it comes to hospitals, you want to go somewhere where the care is great—especially given the fact that a hospital visit isn't cheap. So, what makes a good hospital? Earlier this month, Forbes released a list of the Kentucky hospitals with five-star ratings. There were only five of them. You can check that out by clicking here.

Recently, I discovered a list of America’s 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, a leading consumer resource for healthcare quality and provider information. According to the list, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to determine America’s 100 Best Hospitals. As it turns out, only two Kentucky hospitals made that list. Even more surprising, neither hospital was featured in the five star raitings from Forbes.

Two Kentucky Hospitals Named One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals

According to Healthgrades, America's 100 Best Hospitals are in the top 2% of hospitals in the nation for clinical excellence year over year. That's a pretty high honor, and only two Kentucky hospitals made the list. Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington and Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah both made this prestigious list.

Lists like this are meant to just be a part of personal research to decide which hospitals you trust your care to. However, it appears that in Kentucky, you have some excellent facilities to choose from.
