A recent report found the Indiana hospitals with failing to nearly failing grades. You may or may not be surprised by which hospitals have the worst grades when it comes to patient safety.

If there's one thing that we all can agree on, it's that nobody wants to be sick in the Hoosier State. It affects too many things at one time; you have to worry about work, who's going to take care of the kids, and several other factors that falling ill will affect your day-to-day life.  It's even worse when one has to go to the hospital if the symptoms are severe enough. That's a whole other level of concern because then you'll instantly be thinking about how much it will cost you to be in the hospital. Luckily, we have some really great hospitals here in Indiana. As someone who is extremely accident-prone, I know a good hospital when I see one.

So, when it comes to Indiana hospitals, which ones should you turn to first? More importantly, which ones should you avoid? Recently, The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit focused on patient safety, evaluated hospitals across the country to identify some of the best and worst facilities in terms of patient safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade focuses exclusively on accidents, errors, injuries, and infections that harm or kill patients in hospitals.

The Worst Graded Hospitals in Indiana

The fall 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades have been released. Thankfully, Indiana doesn't have a single hospital that received an "F" grade. However, ten hospitals in the Hoosier State received a "D" grade. So, while you've heard the term "D's get degrees," we all know that it's far from something that you'd want to give 100% of your trust in. Let's check out which Indiana hospitals are the worst graded in the state.
