The Evansville Police Department
The Evansville Police Department (EPD) has been serving the Evansville area since 1863. It started out as two men being assigned to check downtown buildings at night, but by the end of the Civil War in 1865, the small two-person department grew to 16 people and was then under the supervision of Evansville's Mayor, William Baker. Now in 2025, the department has grown to nearly 300 officers, and you could be one.
