A Small Unassuming Diner is Home to the Biggest Tenderloin in Indiana
The best Part? The biggest tenderloin comes with a small price tag!
The Tenderloin Sandwich
Few things are more "Hoosier" than a gigantic pork tenderloin sandwich. The sandwich is known throughout the state because of its popularity, but also because the pork tenderloin itself is often so big, that it makes the sandwich buns look comically small.
An article from Eater highlights the popularity of the tenderloin sandwich, and even has this to say about Indiana's unofficial state sandwich:
The pork tenderloin sandwich is central to the state’s cultural identity. Some say it’s exactly like the people in Indiana: simple, not too showy, sometimes a little too big for its britches. Above all, it’s familiar and reliable — and to a displaced Hoosier (as I once was), it’s home.
So where do you find Indiana's famous pork tenderloin sandwich? Almost everywhere in the state has a local restaurant serving this Hoosier delicacy. I mean there are multiple tenderloin trails across the state where you can travel and try several different sandwiches, and everyone has their own opinion on who serves up the best tenderloin. While taste is subjective, size certainly isn't, and one small restaurant is known for serving the biggest tenderloins in the state.
Edinburg Diner
Located in Edinburgh, Indiana is the Edinburgh Diner. This diner is known for its "Famous Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwich" which has more than 16 oz of breaded pork tenderloin on a bun. The Edinburgh Diner's famous pork tenderloin sandwich is massive, but the price tag is not, you can get one of these bad boys for $9.99!
The Biggest Tenderloin in Indiana
Festival Country Indiana named the Edinburgh Diner the home of Indiana's biggest tenderloin sandwich.
Let's just say this first: This unassuming diner wins hands-down for biggest tenderloin. You could bring extra buns and feed a family of four from this gargantuan pork platter. They were very generous all around. When we requested an extra bun for sharing, they offered up a complete extra set of toppings as well. The meat was thin and crispy, and a treat to break off and sample before planning an attack on the sandwich. There was a really nice amount of flavor and spice to it, and it was accompanied with some dang good fries.
Check out this photo Damon Brown shared on Facebook of his massive sandwich from the Edinburgh Diner!
I think you would be hard-pressed to find that amount of food for $9.99 anywhere else.
