In February 2024, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce released a list of companies found to be the best to work for in Indiana. The list included a record number of 193 Hooiser businesses, four of which are based in Evansville, Indiana. I'll have to tip my cap to each of these businesses, as they were among a crowded pool of 500,000 Hoosier companies. Here is what Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders said about the program:

The Best Places to Work in Indiana program is such a great resource in today’s talent-driven economy. More and more organizations are valuing the feedback they receive through the anonymous employee survey component, which helps them better understand their own team members and, in turn, know if they are on the right track with policies or where they can improve their culture and productivity.

While the names of the businesses were released earlier this year, the Chamber has now revealed how the top 125 companies stacked up against one another. The final rankings were unveiled on Wednesday, May 8, at an awards event. There were four categories: small companies (15–74 employees), medium companies (75-249 employees), large companies (75-249 employees), and major companies (1,000+ employees). Here is how the Evansville companies ranked:

Small Companies

There were 72 Indiana businesses competing for number one in the small company category. One of those was Evansville-based ECS Solutions. According to the ECS Solutions website, the company is an engineering consulting firm that helps manufacturers improve quality, safety, and variety. ECS Solutions came in at number 57 out of 72. The business that made it to number one in this category was NetLogx LLC, based out of Indianapolis.

Medium Companies

No Evansville businesses were featured in the medium category. However, as I grew up in Daviess County, Indiana, I have to mention the company that came in at number one out of the 28 in this ranking. The best medium company to work for in the State of Indiana was none other than TrueScripts Management Services, located on South Street in Washington, Indiana. The pharmacist-founded and led company provides prescription benefit management expertise and, in my opinion, is run by a great group of folks.

Large Companies

There were 17 large companies vying for the number one spot in this category. Evansville-based Lochmueller Group, Inc. came in at number 7. This civil engineering company has been around for over 40 years, and according to their website, has expanded to encompass a wide range of services in that time. They now create road, traffic, structural, environmental, and water resource designs.

Major Companies

No Evansville companies made it into the major category, but I think it's worth mentioning who scored number one on this list of eight businesses. Coming in at number one was none other than Edward Jones, who has offices statewide. The company is primarily focused on financial advice and wealth strategies. As a longtime customer of Edward Jones, this was good news.

Two other Evansville companies were among the initial 193 chosen as the Best Places to Work For in Indiana but didn't quite make it into the top 125. The first was Brackett Heating, Air, & Plumbing, which is classified as a small company. They currently rock five out of five stars in their Google reviews. The second Evansville business on the initial 193 Best Places to Work For in Indiana list was Warehouse Services, Inc., which fell under the major company category. Warehouse Services, Inc. is a third-party global logistics company.

Regardless of where these companies fall in the rankings, I think it's amazing to know there are so many wonderful places to work in the Hoosier state. So, if you're looking for a job, these are definitely a couple to keep in mind when sending out those resumes. To recap, the four Evansville businesses voted the best to work for in the State of Indiana are the following:

  • ECS Solutions
  • Lochmueller Group, Inc
  • Brackett Heating, Air, & Plumbing
  • Warehouse Services, Inc
