'American Pickers' Returning to Indiana For Your Treasures

The hit show, American Pickers, will be hitting the Indiana roads in search of your treasures once again.

I'm sure we all have stuff sitting around our house that we often wonder how valuable it really is. Maybe it's something that was passed down from generation to generation or perhaps it's a collectible toy that you have had for years just sitting around the house. You've been holding on to these objects for quite some time thinking that it could be worth something one day. Well, that day may be coming this July, as the crew from the popular History Channel reality show, American Pickers has announced it will be returning to Indiana in its endless quest to find hidden treasures.

Since January 2010, Mike Wolfe has crisscrossed the country in search of relics from days gone by that have been stashed in homes, barns, garages, or wherever that he can refurbish and sell at his antique shop or keep in his personal collection. He started his journey on the show with his fellow picker, Frank Fritz. Now, Mike has his brother, Robbie Wolfe, alongside him searching for rare and valuable items that folks like you and I have been holding onto.

American Pickers Coming to Indiana in July

Earlier this year the American Pickers announced that they would be coming to Indiana in April. I guess they just didn't have enough fun in the Hoosier State, so they decided to come back in search of more treasures.

In a recent Facebook Post, it was announced that the show would be returning to Indiana in July. The post reads:

This JULY, We will be heading to ILLINOIS, INDIANA and MICHIGAN looking for items that are RARE, HISTORICAL, SIGNIFICANT, and COOL. If you or someone you know has a private and large collection, give us a ring! You could be our next Pick!

You might want to rummage through your home, shed, or barn, to see if you have any valuables laying around that they might want. Outside the major cities, the Hoosier state is full of tiny little towns you've probably passed through on your way to one of those cities. Most of them are likely 100 to 150 years old, or older, and have been around far longer than the large metropolitan areas such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Evansville. Typically, they were started by early settlers who found their way to the state and decided to make it home. Eventually, others would join them, and a community was formed. Over time, as the surrounding areas grew, most of them were folded into those areas and governed by the nearest city or county's governing body officially making them "unincorporated," meaning they did not have their own formally organized municipal government.

A scroll through Wikipedia's long list of unincorporated communities in Indiana shows several of them have names that by today's standards would be considered weird, quirky, or just downright right funny. These are my 40 favorities.
