Pilots are amazing and don't get anywhere near the credit they deserve for the skill with which most pilots handle their aircraft. Landing and takeoff is the riskiest part of any flight. Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger, 'Miracle on the Hudson' pilot, said that's because of cloud height, wind and visibility among other factors. The below video shows how skilled pilots are while they land in extremely heavy crosswinds at Dusseldorf Airport. Watch as these planes come in at very odd angles to compensate for the winds, which on this day were gusting up to 55 knots. If you are a nervous flier, watch with caution.
