Apparently, These are the Most Redneck Towns in Indiana
If you live in one of these Indiana towns, as the old saying goes, "you might be a redneck."
Let's be honest, Jeff Foxworthy is the man who made being a redneck cool. I mean, where would we be as a society if it weren't for the truth that this man spoke? Take a look at some of the things that might qualify you as a redneck:
While some people might be offended by that term, I embrace it. I have several redneck tendencies, and my friends have even more. So, in my eyes, being a "redneck" isn't necessarily a bad thing. Which brings me to the point of this article. Redneck towns in Indiana.
A few years ago, I found a YouTube video from 2016 explaining which ten towns in Indiana are the most redneck. I was just thinking about it the other day, and I thought now might be a fun time to revisit it. How did this video come to a conclusion about the most redneck towns in Indiana? They measured the things that all rednecks love: shooting, hunting, fishing, tobacco, bars, Walmarts, and also Dollar Stores. I mean that's pretty spot on for redneck hobbies.
Before we get into this list, I need to get something off my chest. While the term redneck doesn't offend me, the fact that my hometown of Boonville didn't make this list does. We have all of the qualities of a "redneck town" that this video mentions: a Tractor Supply, Walmart, liquor stores, bars (one named Stoner's Grill which sounds redneck), a lot of places to fish in the area, a hunting/fishing/bait shop (Bucks and Jakes), a couple of trailer parks, and plenty of land to hunt on. If you ask me, Boonville is the definition of "redneck" and should have been added to this list.
Okay, now that I got my rant out of the way, let's get to it. What towns in Indiana made the top ten? Let's find out.
The 10 Most Redneck Towns in Indiana
10. Columbia City
Columbia City is located just west of Ft. Wayne. It is home to a Tractor Supply and a Walmart. Plus, according to the video, they rank fifth for most bars per person in the state of Indiana.
9. Monticello
The town of Monticello is north of Lafayette and is home to two huge nearby lakes for fishing. Speaking of fishing, they rank seventh for places to get bait and tackle in Indiana. Plus they rank sixth for guns and first for Walmarts in the state. Sounds pretty redneck to me.
8. Logansport
The video really didn't go into a whole lot of details about this town other than their low high school graduation rate and that they love getting their trucks stuck in the mud, apparently.
7. Knox
Knox, Indiana is said to have the best whitetail deer hunting in the state. The video also says that the number of places to get guns and tobacco is first in Indiana.
6. Peru
Peru is located halfway between Logansport and Wabash. While the name doesn't sound too redneck, they rank fifth for gun stores and third for Dollar Stores per capita in Indiana.
5. Terre Haute
This college town is more redneck than it appears. They rank third for tobacco, twelfth for Walmarts, and ninth for bars in Indiana. They also have "a boat load" of Dollar Stores in the area.
4. Angola
Angola, Indiana is located near the Michigan/Ohio border. The town ranks third for the most trailer parks per capita in Indiana.
3. Madison
Located in southeast Indiana, near the Ohio River, Madison is ranked fourth for most bars per capita in the state. Plus, there are a lot of places in the area to buy fishing gear.
2. Aurora
This redneck town is up the river from Madison near the Ohio border. They rank fourth for most bars, fifth for most gun stores per person, and apparently, the hunting is great.
1. Scottsburg
Scottsburg is located just north of Louisville, along I-65. The most redneck town in Indiana ranks third for smoke shops, sixth for Walmarts, and fifth for fishing and bait shops in Indiana.
While I am sure there can be some that will argue that there are other "redneck" towns in Indiana that are more deserving to be on this list, this is just what that video says. Again, I think my hometown should have been on this list. You can take a look at the video below to see exactly what it says about each town.
