The Prettiest Lake in Indiana is the Perfect Summer Escape
One Indiana lake was recently named the prettiest in the state, and trust me, you'll want to add it to your summertime bucket list.
As you know, we have a lot of lakes in Indiana. These lakes scattered all throughout the state provide guests with great opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and some really beautiful views. Spending a day (or even a weekend) on a lake in Indiana is something that Hoosiers like me long for in those cold winter months. I don't want to jinx us, but we're creeping up on the warmer months! And with warmer temps, certainly, one of the first things you may be thinking about is getting on the water. We have lakes of all shapes and sizes in Indiana. Everyone has their own go-to lake to visit during the summer. But which lake is considered the most beautiful in Indiana?

Reader's Digest took it upon themselves to pick out The Prettiest Lake in Every State. I'll be honest, when I saw the article, I had a certain lake in mind that I figured would be named the prettiest in Indian. However, to my surprise, the publication actually says that another lake takes that title. It's a lake that I have never been to before, but after looking it up, along with all the things to do there, it's certainly a place that my family and I need to visit in the Hoosier State.

According to Reader's Digest, the prettiest lake in Indiana happens to be Winona Lake. Located in northern Indiana, about an hour west of Fort Wayne, this beautiful place might be somewhat of a hidden gem if you aren't a local.
Here's what Reader's Digest says about Winona Lake:
Northern Indiana is home to a cute lakeside village and lake of the same name, Winona Lake. This small slice of heaven has roughly 570 acres of water, perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking, sailing, and more. Anglers will find an abundance of perch, bass, and bluegill in the lake’s watery depths, which stretch to 79 feet and have an average depth of 30 feet. The eponymous town is even listed on the National Register for Historic Places and contains a lakeside boardwalk and numerous green spaces to enjoy the views of Winona Lake.
There's so much more than just being on the water at Winona Lake. Along with hiking and biking trails, The Village at Winona is a shopping destination with unique retail and service shops and a variety of restaurants and eateries.
Honestly, visiting somewhere like this is my kind of vacation. You can learn more about things to do at Winona Lake, aside from hanging out on the lake itself, by clicking here. While this wouldn't be most people's first choice, I'm sure. Winona Lake may be considered the most beautiful lake in Indiana, but there are plenty of lakes in Indiana in which you can soak in beautiful lakes and take part in various outdoor activities, which you can see below.
