Floating down a lazy river is the perfect way to spend a summer day, but what is the best river floating destination in Indiana?

While you can float down any lazy river at a water park, nothing quite beats floating down an actual river and soaking in Mother Nature! If you have never gone on a river floating trip before, you're missing out! There's something about kicking back on an inner tube, sipping an ice-cold beer, and floating all day on the water that screams "my kind of trip". It's not only relaxing, but it's fun at the same time. I have done this a couple of times, and I'm hoping to do it again this summer. When you have kids, you are always go, go, go, especially on vacations. Why not take the time to just be lazy this summer on a river?

There are several places in Indiana where you can hop in an inner tube and spend the day floating down a river. Many of these rivers have businesses attached to them that will allow you and your family to rent out everything you need to go floating down the river. The majority of these have campgrounds attached to them, so it would make for a nice and relaxing trip for the whole family. Recently,Midwest Living found the best rivers in the Midwest to go floating. Out of all of the options, only one Indiana location made the cut.

The Best River Floating Destination in Indiana

According to Midwest Living, if you want the ultimate river floating trip in Indiana, you are going to want to visit the Tippecanoe River.

Affectionately called "Tippy" by locals, the Tippecanoe River in northern Indiana derives its name from the Miami Indian word for "buffalo fish." Cruise its glassy waters and admire historic structures as well as an amazing spectrum of biodiversity, including bluebreast, gilt, spotted and Tippecanoe darters. This 182-mile river starts just east of Kosciusko County and joins the Wabash River near Lafayette. Many of the river’s outfitters, like Riverside Rentals, are located less than 5 miles south of Tippecanoe River State Park in Winamac.

Of course, this is not the only option you have in Indiana when it comes to river floats. You can find a few more options if you'd like a nice, lazy river getaway by clicking here.
