The Indiana Department of Transportation sent out a press release regarding lane closures to I-64 in Evansville that will take place next week. According to the press release:

Beginning on or around Tuesday, March 5, contractors will shut down the westbound right lane of I-64 close to mile marker 28, about 2 miles west of the I-69 interchange, to replace sensors in the pavement. On March 6, workers will close the eastbound lanes for the same operation in two phases. The eastbound left lane will be shut down from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the eastbound right lane will be closed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The sensor replacement operation is expected to take two days depending upon weather conditions. Sensors on the interstate are used to collect traffic data as well as help equipment, such as traffic signals, perform at optimal efficiency.

Be sure that you plan accordingly if this is a part of your daily commute to work. Take a detour or give yourself plenty of extra time in the event that the lane closures cause delays. Remember to slow down and stay alert near crews.
