Some of the best food can be found in little hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and one Indiana eatery is among the best in the entire country.

Indiana has no shortage of great restaurants that have been open for years. These restaurants have become staples in that area, and people must go whenever they are in town. They are restaurants that can even become bucket-list places to dine at. Certain places stand out among the rest, whether it be comfort food, burgers, fried chicken, seafood, Italian, Mexican, steakhouses, or any other type of restaurant. Out of all of the possibilities, it can be somewhat difficult to decide where you want to go to eat. Well, if you ever find yourself in the area, you might want to try the hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the Hoosier State.

Some of the best food in America can be found where you least expect it. Sure, there are a lot of great chain restaurants that we all enjoy going to. But the really good stuff can be found tucked away behind unassuming storefronts, based in the middle of nowhere, or frequented only by lucky locals. Recently, the folks over at Mashed discovered the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the country. One for each state, to be exact. These restaurants are based on a variety of positive online reviews posted to reputable platforms. One establishment in Indiana is among the best in the country, and it sounds like my kind of restaurant!

The Best Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant in Indiana

If you ever venture out to Avon, Indiana, you might want to make a trip to what Mashed says is one of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the country. It's called Pizzaville, and the name alone is enough to make me say that this is right up my alley!

Opened in 2013, this place has garnered quite a positive reputation. Oh, and they offer up a pizza buffet!

Here's what Mashed said about Pizzaville in Avon:

Pizzaville is found on the outskirts of Avon, but locals happily make the trip here for pies by master pizza maker Jeet Lalli. Reviewers talk about how good the crust and sauce is, along with the great value and friendly service here. Pizzaville offers a weekday lunch buffet, too.

This place has much more than just pizza and a buffet. Check out their menu in the post below:

KEEP READING: 40 Real Indiana Towns with Quirky, Weird, and Funny Names

Outside the major cities, the Hoosier state is full of tiny little towns you've probably passed through on your way to one of those cities. Most of them are likely 100 to 150 years old, or older, and have been around far longer than the large metropolitan areas such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Evansville. Typically, they were started by early settlers who found their way to the state and decided to make it home. Eventually, others would join them, and a community was formed. Over time, as the surrounding areas grew, most of them were folded into those areas and governed by the nearest city or county's governing body officially making them "unincorporated," meaning they did not have their own formally organized municipal government.

A scroll through Wikipedia's long list of unincorporated communities in Indiana shows several of them have names that by today's standards would be considered weird, quirky, or just downright right funny. These are my 40 favorities.
