Indiana Has America’s Second-Best Road Trip Eatery
There are hundreds of roadside restaurants, cafes, and diners across America. Indiana happens to have one of the best in the country!
Some of the best-hidden gems are small-town roadside restaurants. Whether you go there for the coffee, a yummy slice of pie, the huge menu, or the overall dining experience, these restaurants are often overlooked nowadays. That being said, we have quite a few of these roadside restaurants, cafes, and diners scattered all across the country that folks should really make a point to visit on their next road trip, rather than choosing the familiar national chains. Shows like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives have done a really great job of highlighting unique local restaurants all over the country, and recently, one website listed America’s best road trip eateries.
LoveFood recently released a list of the best roadside food joints in the country. This isn't a list that features the best one in each state. No, it's literally the best of the best. So you know that the pitstop you make at one of these restaurants on a road trip is going to be delicious! As it turns out, Indiana has the second-best roadside eatery in the nation, according to this list.

America's Second-Best Road Trip Eatery is in Indiana
While scrolling through the list from LoveFood, I noticed that coming in at number 25 on the list is Oasis Diner in Plainfield, Indiana. That's a place that I hear a lot about. The food and atmosphere are both things that you have to see firsthand if you're traveling through that area.
After scrolling through the list more, I discovered another Indiana roadside eatery. This one actually came in as the second-best roadside eatery in the country. If you find your way in the Speedway area, stop by and check out Gas Grill Restaurant. Being that high on the list means that it has to be special, right? Well, here's what LoveFood had to say:
Described by patrons as a hidden jewel, Gas Grill Family Restaurant can be found just off I-70 between Indianapolis and Columbus. With friendly service and well-priced, perfectly cooked steaks, porterhouse pork chops, cheese omelets, and Greek options (think moussaka, spinach pie, and souvlaki), you’ll feel like you’re back in grandma’s kitchen.
I think it's pretty cool that Indiana had not one, but two restaurants on this list. Have you ever been to either? If so, what did you think? Are they as good as the rankings say?
