Police in northern Indiana recently had their hands full after an ambulance was stolen and crashed, which ultimately led to a foot chase.

Getting your vehicle stolen is never fun, but it's certainly more dangerous when that vehicle happens to be an ambulance. Not only are ambulances big and bulky, but they also contain medical supplies, medication, and, of course, patients. Fortunately, no patients were inside the ambulance that was stolen in Indianapolis on Tuesday. That said, the crime wasn’t without victims.

How Not to Drive an Ambulance

While I'm not sure how fast the driver was going, it's safe to say they probably weren't accustomed to operating an ambulance. Not long after it was stolen, the ambulance was found crashed into a bystander's vehicle on Arlington Avenue. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

What Happened to the Accused Thief?

After crashing the ambulance, the accused thief allegedly fled the scene but was later caught by pursuing officers in the 2400 block of Arlington Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody, and no other details have been made known about the incident or their identity. As for the ambulance, it sustained some front-end damage, including a cracked windshield, broken rim, and flat tire. It's still unclear if it was left unlocked and running when stolen.
