Making a mistake while doing your job in front of a group of people can be embarrassing. Making a mistake at work that involves $86 million dollars is 86 million times more embarrassing.

HERE'S A MISTAKE THAT WASN'T THAT BIG OF A DEAL

I found a video of a failed Illinois lottery drawing but this wasn't a human error. Watch how well the host handles it.

NO LOTTERY BUT AN APOCALYPTIC MISTAKE

In 2018, a bunch of people in Hawaii thought devastation was imminent after a ballistic missile warning was sent to residents.

BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Rightfully so, people were relieved but incredibly ticked off when another alert was sent out 38 minutes later informing them the previous was a false alarm. Can you imagine thinking a ballistic missile was headed toward your tiny island?

DO NOT MESS WITH PEOPLES' MONEY

This week, MegaMillions players were left waiting in one of those "what happens now" scenarios after Mega host, John Crow, announced a wrong number.

This caused quite the problem and forced prize winnings to be temporarily suspended. Oh, and it involved an $86M jackpot.

Here's a direct quote from Mega Millions' office in New York.

Following the 5/10/22 Mega Millions drawing, human error resulted in incorrect input of the winning numbers...

WHAT WENT WRONG

While the machine was doing its number picking, one of those colored ping-pong balls dropped into the catcher, it was a 9. Before the ball had fully dropped he identified it was a 6. It was also listed as a 6 on a graphic on the screen. Oops.

The situation has since been fixed, it was confirmed as a 9 in an official statement from MegaMillions. MegaMillions is played in 45 states including Illinois.

Dear John, slow down next time.
