HGTV just acknowledged one Indiana town as one of the country's 30 best up-and-coming small cities. Do you think you know which one it is?

Indiana towns have been a hot topic lately. When it comes to Indiana, we have no shortage of small towns with a few big cities scattered in there too. Everyone has small-town pride nowadays.  Recently we have covered many of these towns in articles such as the worst small towns in Indiana, an Indiana small town that makes you feel like you are in a Hallmark movie, the best must-visit small town in IndianaHGTV naming this Indiana town as the most charming in the state, and the most expensive place to live in Indiana.

To continue on with that theme, HGTV has a recent article about the 30 best up-and-coming small cities in the United States. They looked at data from a few sources that featured US cities driving economic growth, tracking qualities like jobs, wages, housing affordability, and access to broadband to come up with their results. As it turns out, Indiana has one city that made the list.

Out of the 30 best up-and-coming small cities that HGTV listed only one of them is found in Indiana. This is a huge honor for the Indiana city, but which one is it? Well, that honor goes to the home of the University of Indiana, Bloomington.

Here's what HGTV had to say about Bloomington, Indiana:

Bloomington, a town of fewer than 80,000 residents, sits 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis. It’s a mover-and-shaker for a variety of reasons, including job growth and expansion in the natural resources and high-tech sectors. Bloomington is especially attractive to families thanks to the WonderLab Science MuseumStarlite Drive-In Theater, and Hoosier Putt Hole. There are also lots of green spaces, like Karst Farm Park and Griffy Lake Nature Preserve. Thanks to farm-to-table dining, live music, and global flavors, Bloomington has been feted as one of the “coolest cities” in America, too.

Congrats to Bloomington on this honor. If you want to take a look at the other best up-and-coming small cities in America, you can check out what HGTV had to say by clicking here.

16 Indiana Towns with Dirty-Sounding Names

A majority of these towns were given their names in the mid-to-late 1800s as settlers making their way across the country found unclaimed plots of land and decided to make them their own. While I imagine they thought the names they came up with were innocent, and perhaps a tribute to something in their lives, pop culture has warped our minds to the point since then that we can't help but think of something about the town that was never intended by its founders. Take a look at this list. I guarantee there's at least one name that will make you chuckle.
