Here’s Your Friendly Reminder to Lock Your Car at Night
Last Saturday, my husband and I got into our family car to take my daughter to the soccer game. He made the comment that the cat had been walking in the car since I left it in the driveway overnight. Upon further inspection, it wasn't the cat that had been walking on my car - they were RACOON PRINTS! Turns out, the raccoons that live around my house had a frat party with some snacks that they stole from the garage and then had a dance party on top of my car.
Luckily, I got my car washed and all the footprints and mud and what looked like scratches all washed off. And, they only stole snacks. It could have been a lot worse.
There have been multiple reports on the Nextdoor App and on Facebook that cars all over Newburgh are being broken into at night. Some are even reporting that their vehicle has been vandalized in some way. The sad part is, this kind of thing happens everywhere - all the time. We are just used to it not happening here much, so we let our guard down.
It has happened to me before. Once, someone threw trash into my car, and once someone went through all the cars in our neighborhood, stole my camera, and even threw a lady's Bible into the drainage ditch. Boo on them. It's one thing if you steal stuff but come'on man! Don't throw the Bible in a ditch!
So, here is your friendly reminder to lock your car at night or your garage door so that no one can come in and go through your things! Also, don't keep valuables in your car. If you have to, make sure they are out of sight at all times when you have it parked.
