GM Recalling 368,000 Trucks After Reports of Fires
General Motors announced that they will be recalling 368,000 of their Silverado and Sierra trucks after several reports of fires. This recall will consist of medium and heavy duty diesel trucks with engine-block heaters, according to NBC News.
The reason behind this recall is because the engine block heater cord or the terminals have the possibility to short circuit and fail, thus causing fires. GM has stated that there are no reports of injuries, accidents, or fatalities as a result of this recalled issue. As of right now, NBC News reports that GM does not have a remedy for the issue.
The recalled vehicles include:
- 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500
- 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 5500
- 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 6500
- 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 equipped with Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines and an optional engine-block heater
- 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 equipped with Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines and an optional engine-block heater
- 2017-2019 Sierra 2500 equipped with Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines and an optional engine-block heater
- 2017-2019 Sierra 3500 equipped with Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines and an optional engine-block heater
GM is currently working with their supplier to get the parts needed to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
