How to Get a FREE Dairy Queen Dilly Bar on National Ice Cream Day
This Sunday, July 21, is National Ice Cream Day, and to celebrate, Dairy Queen will be handing out free Dilly Bars to those looking to soothe their sweet tooth.
My wife and I both love ice cream. When we lived in the small rural town of Elkton, Kentucky, one of the few places to get ice cream was our local Dairy Queen (DQ). I'm not sure if this is bragging or just downright shame, but my wife and I eventually racked up enough points on the app to get a free ice cream cake. To put that in perspective, a round ice cream cake at Dairy Queen costs about $30. App users earn 10 points for every dollar they spend. If I remember correctly, the cake cost about 2700 points at the time. I'll let you do the math.
According to People, DQ will be slinging a very sweet deal on National Ice Cream Day this Sunday. The fast food favorite plans to give ice cream fans a free Dilly Bar at any participating DQ where Dilly Bars are sold. If you've never had a Dilly Bar, they're essentially a chocolate-coated ice cream pop that features the brand's signature vanilla soft serve in the middle. According to DQ, the treat has been on the menu since 1955 and packs about 220 calories.
As with all things these days, there is a bit of a catch for those wanting to snag a free Dilly Bar. People notes that customers will need to first download the DQ app and become Rewards members to qualify for the deal. After that, fans can redeem their free Dilly Bar with any rewards order of $1 or more. Fortunately (or not), it isn't hard to spend over $1 at DQ. In fact, I'll probably be racking up some points this weekend.
