Apparently, We’ve Been Eating Muffins Wrong Our Whole Lives
If you want to get the most out of your on-the-go breakfast, there’s a trending pastry life hack you should check out.
Thanks to TikTok and other social media apps, I’m always learning new ways to complete the simplest tasks. While not all of them are worthwhile, I recently came across a post on BuzzFeed that contained a life hack that might actually be worth a try. It featured detailed instructions on the best way to enjoy a full-size breakfast muffin, which I didn’t think I really needed help with, anyway. It’s not extraordinarily unconventional, but it’s definitely not something I’ve ever thought about doing.
The Global Muffin Market is Growing Rapidly
First and foremost, it’s important to note that folks love baked muffins. A lot. In fact, the global muffin market is experiencing very positive growth, believed to be driven by increasing consumer demand for convenient, ready-to-eat snacks. In 2023, the market size was valued at approximately $10.5 billion, and it is projected to reach $15.5 billion by 2033. With that much money spent on muffins every year, you'd think we'd have a pretty good idea of the best way to eat them—but you'd be wrong.

The Best Way to Eat a Muffin is Upside Down
Most folks would probably start eating a muffin at the top or perhaps even on the side. However, this can often create a crumbly mess, which is just plain annoying. According to BuzzFeed, if you eat them upside down, they won’t fall apart, and you get that sweet muffin top last. This information probably won’t radically change your life, but it will make for an interesting conversation topic the next time you're having breakfast with a friend. As for me, I’ll stick with the little mini muffins. The mess is minimal, and they’re easy to pop in your mouth on the go.
