Tri-State Rescue Saves Dog From Being Euthanized After Getting Hit By a Car
After being hit by a car this weekend, his owner brought him in to be put down, thankfully there were rescue volunteers at the vet, who wanted to help the poor dog have a second chance.
Harley is a 2 year old lab mix who was hit by a car on Saturday and had his paw severely injured. His owner took him to the vet to have him put down, but thankfully at the same time there were volunteers from PAAWS at the vet, who talked with the owner, the owner signed Harley to the rescue so they could help get him the veterinary care he needs.
Harley is now in foster care with PAAWS. He is receiving professional treatment daily, and they are hoping to be able to save his leg. Either way his vet bills are mounding, PAAWS could really use donations to help with his care. If you'd like to donate to help Harley, you can do so by donating through PAAWS PayPal, here, or mail a check to PAAWS, p.o. box 115, Newburgh, IN 47629.
Here's what Linda, who is fostering Harley had to say:
This is Harley, a 2 yr old lab mix who's paw was severely injured when he was hit by a car on Saturday. His owner was taking him to the vet to be euthanized but fortunately two of our volunteers, Martha Wertz and Judy Buckles were there and convinced him to surrender him to PAAWS so we could save him and hopefully save his leg. Bob and I are caring for him, and are taking him to East Pines every day for treatment on that foot; the injury needs to be treated professionally since there is one broken bone and a major amount of tissue damage. We are encouraged about his healing (this sweet boy licks our face even when he's in pain) and pray the leg will be saved but the medical bills are mounting. Paaws is accepting donations for Harley through PayPal at www.paaws.org or mail a check to PAAWS, p.o. box 115, Newburgh, IN 47629. And please put your paws together and pray for this wonderful dog.
I'll keep you updated as I learn more, until then, here's to hoping Harley has a full recovery!
