Downtown Evansville Restaurant Announces Permanent Closure
The owners of a downtown Evansville restaurant have announced they are keeping the doors closed permanently nearly a week and a half after their last day of business.
Downtown Evansville Restaurant Owners Announce Closure
Doros and Ellada Hadjisavva announced on Facebook Monday night that they had made the "difficult decision" to permanently close the Riverwalk Restaurant located on the ground level of the Hadi Shrine Temple at the corner of Riverside Drive and Walnut Street. The couple also owned and operated the Acropolis restaurant at the corner of Green River Road and Virginia Street on the city's east side before permanently closing its doors in May of 2021 and relocating their catering business to operate out of the Riverwalk location. As of this writing, that building is still on the market.
According to the couple's Facebook post on the Riverwalk page, the final day of business for the Riverwalk Restaurant was Saturday, September 24th, and the reason behind the closure was so they could, "focus on our family and health."
Catering Business and Food Truck to Remain Open
Despite the closure, the couple said they are not completely stepping away from the restaurant business and will continue to operate their Acropolis Express Food Truck along with their catering business and Venue 812, the old Western Ribey on Weinbach Avenue they transformed into an events center that is available for private events such as wedding receptions.
If you or someone you know has a gift card from the Riverwalk Restaurant you haven't had a chance to use, the couple says those can be used at the Acropolis Food Truck or towards an Acropolis Catering event.
