Craig Morgan has released his first public statement following the death of his son, Jerry Greer, on July 10. In a post on his Facebook page, the singer offers thanks to his fans, family friends and those involved in searching for Greer.

"The loss of our son Jerry is the hardest thing we have ever had to endure as a family," Morgan writes; however, "[my wife] Karen and I are so grateful for all of the wonderful people who have shown us unwavering support during this difficult time."

The country star goes on to thank the Humphreys County Sheriff and Fire Departments, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the other agencies and volunteers who were involved in the search for his son's body following the 19-year-old's accident while water tubing. Morgan also thanks the friends, family members and friends of his son "who have shown us an immense amount of love and support," as well as his fans and those in the country music and outdoor communities "for wrapping their arms around us."

"We are blessed by the outpouring of prayers and condolences from across the world," Morgan continues, before concluding, "Jerry may be gone from this earth, and we will miss him every day, but his spirit will live on in our hearts. We will find peace knowing that God has a bigger plan, and that one day, we'll be reunited with him again in Heaven."

After Greer's tubing accident on July 10, his body was recovered, following a day-long search, on July 11; he was laid to rest on Saturday (July 16). The teenager had recently graduated from Dickson County High School and planned to play football for Marshall University in the fall. Officials are unsure why the Greer's life jacket did not save his life.
