There's a plethora of music being released every single day. As a radio station, we can't play them all. I've put together a collection of some of my favorite tunes that either haven't made it, haven't been discovered, or haven't been heard. There may be artists you know, superstars you love, or names you've never heard of. I'll provide some backstory on the artist and my personal favorite lyrics from the song. You decide which one is the banger of the bunch to move on to next week's battle.

Kacey Musgraves - Mexico Honey

A true Texas woman, Kacey Musgraves developed her fame the old-fashioned way, working the Texas circuit. She also finished seventh on Nashville Star, which didn't hurt her rise to outlaw glory, but she hasn't necessarily spoken highly of the experience. Musgraves actually started in the early 2000's as part of a group known as the Texas Two Bits, where her star-studded yodeling took center stage. After Nashville Star, she signed with Mercury Nashville and released her first studio album,  Same Trailer Different Park, in 2013. The album won the Grammy for Best Country Album. She's been winning traditional country fans over ever since. True to her Texas roots, her songs feature everything from her soft, sultry voice to a mariachi band. Her recently released album,  Middle Of Nowhere, may be some of her best work yet. The single "Mexico Honey" is a wonderful song that showcases the unique, yet original Texas sound of Kacey Musgraves. Don't forget to vote for your favorite banger below!

Jake Rose - Sleeves

Jake Rose is a rising country songwriter and the frontman of the rock group "New Medicine". The country riser has penned songs for artists like Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, Jimmie Allen, Colt Ford, Kid Rock, and more. These days, you can find him performing fairly regularly at The Bluebird when he's not casually penning another hit. As a songwriter, one of the hardest things to do is pick which songs you keep for yourself. In his song "Sleeves", Rose goes into the hidden meanings behind what I can only assume is his personal tattoo sleeve. Offering a candid and personal view of what matters to the songwriter, this song is an excellent depiction of songwriting with personal meaning.
