French Lick is nominated for USA Today's Reader's Choice Award for Best Small Town in the Midwest, and your votes will determine if this southern Indiana town will win.

When it comes to Indiana, we have no shortage of great small towns. Places that are charming, scenic, and historic. These small towns have a lot to offer to families when it comes to events, attractions, food, and more. One such town is French Lick. From its hotels, casino, golf courses, food, and more fun, French Lick is perfect for a relaxing getaway, a cultural adventure, or a family-friendly destination.

French Lick, Indiana, Nominated For Best Small Town in the Midwest

French Lick has been nominated as one of USA Today's Best Small Town in the Midwest. USA Today has found 20 small towns — each with a population of fewer than 25,000 — that an expert panel has nominated as the best in the region. This is a pretty high honor for the small southern Indiana town. Here's what USA Today had to say about French Lick:

First established in the early 1800s as a small trading post, French Lick has evolved into one of southern Indiana's most charming resort towns. The French Lick Casino serves as a major draw for tourism with more than 700 slot machines operating alongside a wide array of table games, while Big Splash Adventure draws visitors in droves to enjoy the year-round indoor water park.

French Lick wasn't the only Indiana town to be nominated for USA Today's Best Small Town in the Midwest. La Porte, Madison, Middlebury, and Vevay were all nominees in this category. That being said, only one can be named the best. You can vote for French Lick or any of the other Indiana towns by clicking here. Vote once per day until polls close on Monday, March 30 at noon ET. The winning small towns will be announced on Wednesday, April 8.

16 Indiana Towns with Dirty-Sounding Names

A majority of these towns were given their names in the mid-to-late 1800s as settlers making their way across the country found unclaimed plots of land and decided to make them their own. While I imagine they thought the names they came up with were innocent, and perhaps a tribute to something in their lives, pop culture has warped our minds to the point since then that we can't help but think of something about the town that was never intended by its founders. Take a look at this list. I guarantee there's at least one name that will make you chuckle.
