Indiana Governor, Eric Holcomb announced that the state will give out metal detectors devices to school officials free of charge. In an effort to help provide a safer environment for Indiana students, schools throughout the state will receive more than 3,200 hand-held metal detectors. The first batch of these devices will be sent out in August to schools who have placed orders. Schools who didn't place an order for the metal detectors will be able to do so this fall, according to WTHR in Indianapolis.

Governor Holcomb' program was announced after the Noblesville Middle School shooting in May. Under this program, schools can receive one metal detector for every 250 students.
