The first annual Sweet Bids for the Kids dinner and auction will be happening in Evansville this September.
Why St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Is a Special Place
The staff at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, has one goal, and that's to do everything in their power to bring an end to childhood cancers and other life-threatening illnesses. This goal is something that they have gotten closer and closer to achieving since the facility opened its doors over 60 years ago in 1962. Over the course of those six decades, they've made unbelievable strides in understanding how a variety of different cancers behave and how to treat them, saving the lives of countless children along the way.
As a father, there is nothing that I wouldn't do for my children. Especially if they are sick, it's our number one priority as parents to protect our kids and keep them safe from all the dangers the world has to offer. Unfortunately, sometimes there are only so many things a parent can do. For some parents, there's one thing they can't protect their kids from, regardless of what measures they take — cancer. Once they hear the words, "Your child has cancer," their whole world changes, and their top priority becomes helping their child get better. I can't imagine that feeling. It makes me tear up just thinking about it.
What's special about St. Jude is that no family has to pay a single dime for anything. Not for medical bills, housing while there, food, nothing. All they have to do is be there for each other. This isn't possible without funding from generous donors and various fundraising events. One such event is coming up in Evansville that I encourage you to attend.
Sweet Bids for the Kids Coming up in September
The first annual Sweet Bids for the Kids will be happening on Saturday, September 19th at Six Strings on Franklin! According to organizer Sue Henderson, this event is described as a Dinner and Dessert Auction. There will be a lot of amazing sweets up for grabs too. On top of the dinner and auction, the event will also feature live music. It would make for a perfect date night or a group of friends! The best part of it is that 100% of all proceeds will go right back to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and their mission to find cures and save lives.
