The word glazed sounds delicious if you are talking about the icing on a warm donut. Unfortunately when the National Weather Service mentions glaze, it has nothing to do with warm baked goods. Actually, it sounds like hunkering down with a warm blanky and a donut would be a good idea Wednesday night.

We like to speculate about how much snow we might get during any winter event. But when it comes to ice, even a little bit that you can't see could be dangerous.

Rain will change to a wintry mix Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. In the Evansville area into northwest KY, 1 to 2 inches of of snow and a light glaze of ice will create dangerous driving conditions. Bitter cold will follow on Thursday.

The Meteorologists at the National Weather Service say that we can expect a 'Kitchen sink' winter event. It will begin with rain as early as 6:00 AM. The temperature will fall throughout the day, giving us sleet, freezing rain, and then one-two inches of snow.

This won't be a major winter event, but if you don't have to travel, it would be best to stay where it's safe.

Timing

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 4:00 PM - Thursday, January 20, 2022, 6:00 AM.

Wednesday's evening commute could be slick and dangerous. The same can be said for Thursday morning. The Weather Service will issue an update in the morning, which is good, since our weather can change on a dime.
