There's been quite a bit of talk from people who track weather for the Tri-State on whether or not we were going to see some snow this weekend. Early in the week they weren't quite sure since conditions can change on a dime. By mid-week they were pretty confident we'd see something, and now they know for sure with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a Winter Storm Warning for Tri-State counties in southern Illinois and Indiana early Friday morning.

The Warning kicks in at 6:00 p.m. Friday night and lasts until Noon on Saturday. Here's the full statement from the NWS:

transition to mainly rain from south to north is forecast by
Saturday morning as temperatures warm above freezing.

  hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can

Tri-State counties in Kentucky aren't under the Warning, but they're not completely in the clear either as the NWS has placed them under a Winter Weather Advisory.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
