Yesterday morning I, along with millions, woke up to the horrific news that one man had so much hate in his heart that he took 50 innocent lives, and injured 53 more without even thinking twice. Of course reading this my heart sank, and my thoughts were "how can this even be happening in the world we live in?   Things are so scary."  I know many more thought this too.  This tragedy is senseless, it's heartbreaking, it's scary, and it's angering.  And while we can't turn back time, we can help pick up the pieces. In times like this, I always remember what Mr. Rogers said.

There's a quote from Mr. Rogers, that fits as perfectly today, as it did when he said it.

When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me 'look for the helpers, you will always find people who are helping'" - Mr. Rogers

What happened in Orlando is truly scary, and heartbreaking. But the outpouring of love and support, and people helping truly gives me hope. The hate in this mans heart who committed this horrific act of violence must have been immense.  But the love in the world far outweighs the hate.

On Facebook I keep seeing people getting heated and having debates about what caused this, what could have stopped this, how do we prevent this?  And while these are all valid, I'm seeing friendships being torn apart because of differing political beliefs.  Now is not the time to be arguing about coulda, shoulda, woulda.   Now is the time to love each other, show support, and help if you can.  United we stand.

For ways you can help the victims in Orlando, check out this blog from Dave and Leslie.

In closing all I have to say is, call someone and tell them you love them, do good, and spread kindness.
