Food Truck Fatigue: Are There Too Many Food Trucks in the Evansville Area?

Evansville's food truck scene has grown leaps and bounds in just a couple of years. But can you really ever have too many food trucks?

Deciding to own and operate a food truck takes a lot of money, hard work, and sweat. Plenty of local foodies have taken on this responsibility. There were around 35 food trucks operating in and around Evansville back in 2020. That number almost doubled in 2021, and more food trucks seem to be popping up every week.

What Evansville Needs: More Variety

I conducted my own unscientific poll around the office and found that most people would actually like to see different food options. One person would like to see more diversity and specialization among food trucks. Instead of duplicating so many popular cuisines, food truck owners could focus on niche offerings or unique fusion concepts.

I had several people tell me that they don't eat at food trucks because of dietary issues. It was suggested that Evansville needs a vegan food truck. My husband has Celiac Disease, so it would be a real treat for him to indulge in some food truck goodies with a dedicated gluten-free option.

So, maybe we actually don't have enough food trucks in Evansville! I would love to see a 'Plain' food truck. No onions or fancy stuff on my burger, please.
