Survey Says: Kentucky is Home to Some of the Best Drivers in the Country
Whether you believe it or not, apparently Kentucky drivers are some of the best in the country.
While Kentucky is full of roads that offer great scenery and make for a great Sunday drive, we also have a few sketchy roads throughout the state too. Regardless of the road conditions, the one thing you always have to be cautious about is the drivers around you. We've all seen some careless drivers along Indiana roadways. For some, it's almost a daily occurrence. You know what kind of drivers I am talking about, careless drivers weaving in and out of traffic, distracted drivers, speeders, the list goes on and on. Furthermore, there are a few cities in the state where driving is much more hectic thanks to other drivers.
A website called LendingTree, set out to determine which states have the best and worst drivers, and by "best" they probably mean less bad. They calculated the number of driving incidents per 1,000 drivers in every state within four categories: accidents, DUIs, speeding-related incidents, and general citations, like recklessness, failure to yield, and not signaling. Surprisingly enough, the results showed that Kentucky ranked in the top five for best drivers.

So, according to LendingTree, Kentucky has the fourth-best drivers in the country. The survey said:
Kentucky ranks fourth, at 15.8 incidents per 1,000 drivers. Of note, it has the third-lowest speeding-related incident rate, at 1.0. It also has the eighth-lowest accident rate, at 10.5. It’s also one of the five states that tie for the 11th-lowest DUI rate, at 0.9.
That is certainly great news for Kentuckians...however...
Also this year, there were two other studies that revealed Kentucky is actually home to some of the worst drivers in the country. One study found that the state ranked as the seventh worst drivers in the country. The other study said that Kentucky is actually the most dangerous state for drivers.
Given all of that information, I don't really know what to think. Is Kentucky home to some of the best drivers in the country...or the worst? What do you think? Honestly, especially driving through cities like Louisville is a nightmare for me not only because of the construction, but the drivers there are way more aggressive than I'm comfortable with. I'm not saying that everyone in Louisville or Kentucky are bad drivers, but it only takes a handful to ruin it for the rest of the bunch.
