Road Closure Planned for State Road 62 in Warrick County
A good portion of State Road 62 in Warrick County will be closed, causing major detours for commuters. Here's everything you need to know.
The Indiana Department of Transportation just announced a road closure for State Road 62 in Warrick County. As you know, State Road 62 is a long stretch of road that has a lot of daily traffic. So, where exactly is this closure going to take place? Here's what INDOT says.

Beginning on or around Monday, June 8, crews will close State Road 62 near Degonia Springs. This closure will occur between State Road 161 and Maurer Road. According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, this closure will allow for a box structure replacement project. This closure is expected to last through the end of July, depending on the weather.
Now, here's what I find interesting: INDOT says that the official detour for this project is State Road 161 to State Road 66 to State Road 61. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. For those who need a visual, here's what that route looks like:
I don't know about you, but that seems like an awfully long detour if you are looking to get from one side of State Road 62 to another. While that is the official detour, if it were me, I would consider an alternative detour that would save you much more time than the official detour. If you are coming from Boonville, you could turn onto East Walnut Street (next to Tastee Freeze), which turns into East Degonia Road. From there, you can turn left on Maurer Road. Then, turn right onto Old Degonia Road, which will take you right to State Road 62. Here's what that looks like:
No matter what route you take, you should be aware of this road closure, especially if it is a part of your daily commute. As always, INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.
