Newburgh Police Release Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treating
Halloween is coming up next Thursday, and of course the highlight for most kids is making their way around your neighborhood collecting all that sweet, sweet candy goodness. If you live in or plan on doing some trick-or-treating in Newburgh, the Police Department has a few suggestions on how to make sure you and your kids stay safe while also having a good time, including a suggested time frame on when to do it.

In the Town of Newburgh, recommended hours for Trick or Treating are from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
Halloween Safety Tips from the Newburgh Police Department:
Cross the street at corners.
Walk on sidewalks or paths.
Watch for cars.
Carry a flashlight or glow sticks.
Only go to homes that have a porch light on.
Remind children not to eat candy until after they return home and an adult inspects their candy.
The Department also encourages you to keep an eye out for suspicious activity (it is call "trick" or treating after all) and call 911 if you see anything that doesn't seem right.
