There's no shortage of makes and models to choose from when it comes to snagging a new daily driver, but for folks in Illinois, the choice seems clear.

READ MORE: Why This Truck is Now the Top Choice for Hoosiers

I've been driving a double-cab pickup truck for the last five years, and I don't think I could ever bring myself to drive anything else. In addition to the utility aspect, trucks in the 21st century are roomy and stocked with all the technology that comes standard in a sedan or small SUV. That said, I can understand the appeal of a smaller ride—especially when it comes to parking. That may even be why Illinois residents prefer a certain vehicle over all others.

While many Illinois residents have their eye on something other than a truck, folks in the Hoosier State—and nearly half the country—prefer the opposite. The top choice for Hoosier drivers is none other than the Chevrolet Silverado, followed by the Ford F-Series pickup. According to World Population Review, the most popular vehicle in the United States by far is the Ford F-150. The pickup has held that title for more than 40 years and is the top choice for American drivers in 30 states.

The Most Popular Vehicle in Illinois Is Actually a Toyota

The most popular ride in Illinois isn't a Ford, General Motors, or Chrysler product. It's actually a Toyota, and not a Tacoma or Tundra. Rather, folks in Illinois opt for a smaller, utilitarian vehicle—the Toyota RAV4.

In all honesty, I have nothing bad to say about the RAV4. It's a solid ride with a reputation for simplicity and reliability. In fact, it's so popular that it's also the top choice for drivers in nearly a dozen other states. That said, I'll be going against the grain in both Indiana and Illinois by sticking with my RAM 1500.
